Suomun Tupa is located at Suomuntie 54, 81650 Hattuvaara, Lieksa. Patvinsuo National Park is situated on the eastern side of the Joensuu–Lieksa road (main road 73). The distance from Joensuu to Patvinsuo via Uimaharju is 90 km. Suomun Tupa is 40 km from Uimaharju and 55 km from Lieksa.
By Carpooling
A shared taxi service runs once a week on Thursdays between Patvinsuo–Hattuvaara–Lieksa–Hattuvaara–Patvinsuo, from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027. The ride must be booked in advance the day before, between 16:00 and 18:00.
Approximate timetable: departure from the village at around 07:15 (Patvinsuo–Hattuvaara–Lieksa) and return departure from town (Lieksa–Hattuvaara–Patvinsuo) at 11:00–11:30. Read more about demand-driven carpooling (lieksa.fi).
By Public Transport
Lieksa can be reached from Joensuu by train (vr.fi) or bus (matkahuolto.fi). Unfortunately, there is currently no public transport connection from Lieksa to Suomun Tupa. The final leg of the journey can be completed by taxi or carpooling.
